Mt Cook Tech
On Monday the students had their first session at Mt Cook Tech. They get to do five different classes over the course of the year - Cooking, Woodwork, Sewing, Movie-making & Electronics.

Reading Challenges - Term 1
Here are the reading challenges for this term. They are all optional apart from the 10-book challenge.
Books can count in more than one challenge, so you might be lucky enough to find a book about cricket that has a number in the title that has been recommended by a friend!
There will be a prize draw at the end of the term for each challenge.
10 Book Challenge: Read 10 books in one term.
20 Book Challenge: Read 20 books in one term.
Ye Olde Booke Challenge: Read a book written before 1970.
YA Challenge: Read 2 books from the Young Adult section of the school library.
Cricket Challenge: Read a book that that includes cricket in a significant way.
Number Challenge: Read a book with a number in the title.
Friend Challenge: Read 2 books recommended by friends.
There are also a couple of tougher year-long challenges:
Country Challenge: Read 10 books that are each set in a different country.
Date Challenge: Read a book in each of these time periods:

Welcome to Room 12
I would like to welcome everyone to Room 12 this year, We have a few students that were in Room 12 last year, lots that were in different classes last year and a couple of students that are new to the school. We have already got off to a great start on our first day and I can tell we are going to have a great year!
