Reading Challenges

Here are the reading challenges for Term 1, as well as our year-long challenges. The aim is for students to read around one book per week, and to read widely. All the challenges, except for the 10-book challenge, are optional - but there will be prizes at the end of the term! The same book can count in more than one challenge.

10 Book Challenge: Read 10 books in one term.

20 Book Challenge  Read 20 books in one term.

Comic book Challenge Read 2 comic books or graphic novels.

YA Challenge Read 2 books from the Young Adult section of the school library.         

Dystopian Challenge Read 2 books set in a dystopian future.

NZ Challenge: Read a book by NZ author.                                      

Name Challenge: Read a book with the name of a person in the title.

Friend Challenge: Read 2 books recommended by friends.

Welcome to 2013

Our new school year got off to a great start yesterday. The day went very quickly as we explained our task system to our new Year 7s, then got started with some group posters, journal writing and art. It was great to see everyone motivated and working well with each other straight away.

Here are some examples of our art from Melissa and Aisling. We used watercolour paint to create a sea background, then glue and sand to make koru wave patterns.
