Weekly Tasks - Term 2, Week 9

Last week of term! Not many tasks this week as most of our time will be taken up with making costumes. Weekly Tasks - Term 2, Week 9.

Remember to bring in your Science Fair project tomorrow morning and set it up before school. Bring it in a plastic bag if it's raining.

We'll be announcing the 10 winners at 6.30pm. Come along a bit before that so your parents can have a look at the projects.

Reading Rocks!

Last week the whole school saw a fun show called 'Reading Rocks!' that involved reading, juggling and unicycles. Here are a couple of pics of Will and Siena helping out with the performance.

Last Minute Science Fair Info

For any students still finishing their Science Fair projects, here are the info sheets that were handed out earlier this term. Make sure you have included all the appropriate headings on your board, and don't forget your name! Remember you need to set up the project in the library before school next Tuesday (1 July).

Here are a few of last year's projects to help you with presentation ideas.

Good luck.

Egypt Week!

Last week we wrapped up our Ancient Egypt topic with Egypt Week. All the students had to work in groups to teach the class about an aspect of Egyptian history, using a Powerpoint presentation and a follow-up activity. We all learned a lot and got to do a great range of fun activities including dressing up as mummies and pharaohs, Minecraft roleplays, quizzes (Who Wants to be an Egyptionaire!), Egyptian God dodgeball games, Lego pyramid building, collage making and many more.

Weekly Tasks - Term 2, Week 8

Here are the tasks: Weekly Tasks - Term 2, Week 8. There aren't many because of Science Fair & costume making.

Try and get your Science Fair project finished by Friday. Remember it is due on Tuesday morning for judging - no excuses accepted.

Also, try to find stuff that could be used to make costumes and bring it in asap.

Ancient Egypt Minecraft

Over the last 2 weeks we have been working on recreating some parts of Ancient Egypt in MinecraftEdu. Students are working on creating tombs in the Valley of the Kings, the pyramids, the Sphinx, the village of Deir el-Medina, some temples, statues, farms and boats. We used a texture pack to make it look extra Egyptian. Check out our progress:

FYI - the texture pack we're using is called Ancient Egypt by Lokisa 1.6.2.

Weekly Tasks - Term 2, Week 5

Here is the task sheet: Weekly Tasks - Term 2, Week 5.

For the Egyptian writing task, you need to have your notes done and at least half of your draft paragraphs written by the end of this week.

This site could be handy for the Minecraft activity - especially if you are building a tomb in the Valley of the Kings: Theban Mapping Project
