It's Week 5 already! You should have your Science Fair project finished by Week 9 which is not far away. Hopefully you have started your testing already - if not, plan to get it going this week.

Weekly Tasks - Term 2, Week 5

Here are the tasks for Term 2, Week 5. The medieval research is the biggest task - you only need to have notes and one paragraph written this week, but if possible, do more so you're not too rushed next week.

Nairnville Sports

This term we walk down to the Nairnville Rec Centre for PE on Thursdays. So far this term we have learned badminton and touch rugby skills.

Weekly Tasks - Term 2, Week 4

Here are the tasks for Term 2, Week 4.

Try to get your biography and some other small tasks early in the week so you can get straight on to your Minecraft/medieval village work after the lesson on Tuesday afternoon.

Castles!

Last week the students worked extremely hard on a maths/art/topic activity which was to build a castle. They needed to figure out and make nets for all the sections of their castles and then decorate them and put them all together.

Cross-country

Many students showed a lot of perseverance and determination as they completed the 2km cross-country race last week. Well done to Jack, Emily-Kei, Liam M & Maeghan who came first in the Yr 7&8 races.

Football

Yesterday two teams of students participated in the PSW Football Tournament. Results were...mixed, but a good time was had by all.

Monkey Trouble Part 2

Later in the play one of the friends is caught passing bananas into the book cupboard. They have to explain to their strict teacher what they are doing.

Write dialogue for this scene. The way the friends speak in front of the teacher will be different from the earlier scene. Think about how you can make the teacher sound very strict.

Medieval Times

Room 10, 11 & 12 have just begun a study on Medieval Times and the classrooms are suddenly filling up with drawbridges, torches and banners.

Reading Challenges - Term 2

Books can count in more than one challenge. Try to complete as many as you can!

10 Book Challenge: Read 10 books in one term.                                      

20 Book Challenge:  Read 20 books in one term.

Ye Olde Booke Challenge:  Read a book written before 1980

Geographical Feature Challenge: Read a book with a geographical feature in the title, e.g. hill, mountain, river, sea

Crime-solving Challenge: Read 2 books in which children are solving crimes.

Bottom of the Pile Challenge: Read a book you own but haven’t read yet.

2016 Challenge: Read a book published this year.

Family Challenge: Read a book recommended by a family member.

Monkey Trouble
Two friends on their way to school find a monkey that has escaped from a circus. They think the monkey will have a nicer life as their pet than performing tricks in the circus. They decide to keep it but have to hide it in a cupboard in the classroom until the end of school.

Write the dialogue between the friends as they walk along (with the monkey) towards school. They plan what to do. Make them sound like two different, real people walking along and talking. Use your imagination to bring details into the scene.
