Goodbye hair
It was a big day on Friday when Kate had her head shaved to raise money for the Cancer Society. High excitement levels in the library at lunchtime! She had already raised about $800 online before counting the Friday contributions. Well done Kate for doing something to help others.

Minecraft Parliament trip
On Friday, 12 Year 7 & 8 students who are part of a project to recreate Parliament Buildings in Minecraft caught the train into town. First stop was Parliament, where we met the other two schools involved (Glenview & Waikanae) and had a tour around Parliament, paying extra attention to the architecture and materials. Then we walked down to Microsoft House on Lambton Quay where we got to play with some new tech like a VR HoloLens and a Surface Hub. The Microsoft people also gave us lunch, which included some cool Minecraft-themed cupcakes.
Microsoft are lending us laptops to use during the month-long project. Students will be working on recreating the buildings and then we will return to Parliament in a month to share our creations.
Here are a few pics - none of Parliament unfortunately because photos aren't allowed.

Here are the tasks for Term 3, Week 4.
Tasks will be fairly light while we are preparing for the art exhibition in Week 7, but please make sure you don't leave them all to the last minute - they will still take a bit of time.

Book Groups
We recently started Book Groups, where students group together to read a novel and discuss it over 6 weeks or so. The idea is for students to learn to analyse and think more deeply about a novel, and practice sharing and listening to different viewpoints.
